BOOK REVIEW:FREDERICO THE MOUSE VIOLINIST BY MAYRA CALVANI

Mayra Calvani has done it again! Her book Frederico, the Mouse Violinist is a masterpiece of a book. This talented author has a way with words. What an imagination to come up with such an incredible storyline.

Before reading this wonderful story, I never heard of Antonio Stradivari. How ingenious of Mayra Calvani to create a wonderful tale about such a talented and important luthier.

The story begins with Frederico, a music-loving mouse who lived in the workshop of Antonio Stradivari in Cremona, Italy. I immediately fell in love with the story because of the many hidden lessons children and adult can learn from it.

Children can learn the names of the parts of a violin. The book also has a glossary of terms. The most important lesson to be learned is: where there is a will there is a way. More than anything, Frederico wanted to learn how to play the violin. Frederico’s passion and perseverance is very inspiring. Adults and children can learn that in order to accomplish your dreams and desires one must never give up but must continue to pursue that goal.

K.C Snider, an award-winning artist, made the story jump off the page. The illustrations are simply outstanding.

When you have a talented author and artist come together to produce a book the end result will most definitely be a one of a kind masterpiece.

I have read and reviewed many children’s books, but Frederico the Mouse Violinist struck a very special chord in my heart.
